The 13th edition of the Cinéma Vérité, Iran’s major documentary film festival, has scheduled to host seven documentaries by Balkan filmmakers.
The lineup of Balkan works will be reviewed in the Perspective section of the Cinéma Vérité.
The lineup includes ‘My Father the Spy’ by Gints Grube and Jaak Kilmi from Lithuania, Germany and the US, ‘Wild Berries’ by Marianna Vas and Hedda Bednarszky from Romania, Hungary and Portugal, as well as ‘Immortal’ by Ksenija Okhapkina from Estonia and Latvia.
The lineup goes on with ‘Home Games’ by Alisa Kovalenko from Ukraine, ‘Regeneration’ by Emir Kapetanovic from Bosnia and Herzegovina, ‘The Sun Sets in the East’ by Alexander Belinski and Agne Dovydaityte from Lithuania, and a documentary by Neven Hitrec from Croatia.
The Balkans are usually characterized as comprising Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, and Slovenia, with all or part of each of those countries located within the peninsula.
Organized by the Documentary and Experimental Film Center, the first edition of the Cinéma Vérité was held in 2007.
Over the past decade it has emerged as one of the important events on Iran's documentary film calendar.
The 13th edition of the Cinéma Vérité will be held in Tehran on December 9-16, 2019.
